Frequently Asked Questions

At what age can my child start CHUF?

We are registered to take children from age 2. Children usually are offered a place the term after they turn 2, as we aim to have an intake of children at the beginning of each term. Children aged 2 currently start in our afternoon sessions, moving to our morning session on or around their 3rd birthday. Some choose to defer their place until they are old enough to start our morning sessions.
However from September we will be changing this and 2 year olds will attend our morning’s sessions instead with the afternoons being dedicated to older children. (this needs to stand out as will be a change)

FREE childcare for 2 year olds
Did you know that your 2 year old could be entitled to up to 15 hours of FREE childcare each week?
Families on low incomes and receiving certain benefits may be eligible.

Do you run a waiting list?

Yes, we do. If you would like to join our waiting list please email: info@chufpreschool.co.uk.

What are your current fees?

We currently charge £13.00 per session for non-funded children. We also run a Lunch Bunch which is currently £4 per session, which can be booked on an adhoc basis (We advise parents with afternoon children to ring ahead to check there is space). From September we are updating our pricing so please ask for further information on this. We review our costs regularly and benchmark against other pre-schools.

When will my child receive funding?

Funding of up to 15 hours can be claimed the term after your child reaches 3. The cut off date of birth (DOB) for the Autumn Term is a DOB on or before 31st August, for Spring Term is a DOB on or before 31st December, and for Summer Term is a DOB on or before 31st March.

How do I claim Funding?

A funding form will be placed in your child’s basket for completion and needs to be returned the half term prior to the funding beginning.

What are your session times?

Please be aware these times are slightly changing from September so please ask for details
Currently morning session times run from 9.15am to 12pm and Lunch Bunch from 12pm to 1pm. Afternoon sessions in Chearsley run from 1.15pm to 3.30pm and in Haddenham from 1pm until 3pm. Both settings are open 5 mornings a week. Afternoon sessions run in Chearsley on a Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, and in Haddenham everyday.

Will there be an opportunity to change /increase my child’s sessions?
When space permits we will issue a session request form in advance of each term asking for your session preferences. We will always try to accomodate your requests, but if we only have a limited number of sessions available we will allocate these as fairly as possible, using a child’s DOB, length of time before starting school and number of current sessions.

What ratios of staff to children do you operate at?
We operate a ratio of 1 member of staff to 4 children for under 3′s and 1 member of staff to 6 children for children aged 3+.

How many weeks a year are you open?

CHUF is open Monday to Friday term time only, and receives up to 38 weeks funding per year from local government. Term dates are set to fall in line with our local authority (Buckinghamshire County Council) term dates wherever possible. However, we often begin each term slightly later and end each term slightly earlier than local schools to allow for staff training, deep cleaning, and preparation for the following term, all within our 38 week allowance.
